California car accident leaves little girl dead

Most people spend Christmas Eve and Christmas day celebrating with family and friends. However, one California family lost something that gifts could never replace -- their 9-year-old daughter. A car accident resulted in injuries so severe that the young girl couldn't be saved.

While stopped at a red light, the young girl's family SUV was rear ended. The driver of the vehicle that failed to stop, a 66-year-old woman, was not reported to be under the influence of alcohol. It is not known why she hit the other vehicle, but reports indicate that she was only travelling 35 mph at the moment of impact.

The young girl's aunt as well as another child. a 10-year-old male, were both transported to a local hospital. Despite attempts to save her life, the young girl died on Christmas Eve, the day after the accident. An outpouring of support flooded her Twitter page.

Most parents may not think of a future in which they outlive their children. For this California family, losing their daughter on Christmas Eve may be the most devastating tragedy that they will ever have to go through. In the face of medical bills and an unexpected funeral to plan -- which requires both money and time -- her family might be finding themselves unable to move forward, both financially and emotionally. A wrongful death claim filed on behalf of their deceased daughter may never fully heal the emotional trauma that they have likely incurred, but if successfully settled it may at least soothe the trauma and ease the financial burden shouldered after the car accident.
