Car accident after chase in California causes fatality

One of the worst phone calls or police visits a family can receive is the one informing them of the loss of a loved one. A family may have experienced that painful moment recently when a man died in a serious car accident in Long Beach, California. At this point, the names of both the driver and the deceased passenger have not been released.

The accident began with a car being chased by police in the Pacific Coast Highway and Magnolia Avenue area. The vehicle had been reported as stolen and police were attempting to pull the vehicle over. The driver of the vehicle then fled the traffic stop, putting his passenger into mortal danger.

The vehicle attempted to allude patrol officers by heading southbound on Terminal Island Freeway. Apparently, the driver of the vehicle lost control and flipped over an embankment. His passenger died at the scene of the accident. The investigation is still open, and detectives are still gathering information regarding the incident. Police are encouraging anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them.

At this point, it is unknown what relationship the passenger had with the driver. Many questions remain unanswered, and more information could shed light on this tragic accident. The driver responsible for this serious car accident may be liable for his passenger's death. If the passenger had a family, they may want to understand the laws surrounding this event in order to develop the best case possible. Serious car accidents happen often in California, but a properly litigated claim could make all the difference for a suffering family.
