Tourists suffered serious injuries in deadly bus accident

Tourists who may have been hoping for bright lights and exciting adventures suffered a much different experience while on their way to one city in California. After an early morning accident, four people were killed and several others sustained serious injuries. However, both of the drivers involved in the accident were uninjured.

Authorities believe that the 18-wheeler's driver was attempting to pass other vehicles at the time of the accident. He apparently drifted over to the shoulder of the road and was unable to retain control of his truck. The truck then jackknifed and spilled its load of metal pipes across the interstate.

That stretch of the interstate is not lit by any streetlights, so a driver might understandably not have been able to spot the pipes on the dark road. Indeed, after running into the scattered metal pipes, a tour bus ended up sliding down a nearby embankment before flipping and killing four passengers. Seven others in the bus suffered substantial injuries in the wreck.

In April of this year, discussed on this blog was another fatal bus accident. This more recent wreck is believed to be one of the more severe bus wrecks with serious injuries in the month since then, which may hit a little too close to home for Californians who are already grappling with such a tragic accident. The families of the victims of this bus accident might find that they are scrambling to deal with their loved ones’ final arrangements while also trying to grieve. In these instances, family members may file a wrongful death claim on behalf of any deceased family member. If litigation is successful, compensation can help abate unexpected and often costly funeral expenses.
