California car accident involving motorcycle proves fatal

Motorcycles can often be difficult to see on California roadways because of their smaller size. Nevertheless, drivers of traditional motor vehicles must always be vigilant in order to protect motorcyclists. Unfortunately, police claim that a man recently lost his life in a car accident involving a motorcycle.

The incident happened one day in late November.  According to reports, the driver of a car stopped at a stop sign before pulling into traffic. Unfortunately, he allegedly failed to see the oncoming motorcyclist, causing a collision.

The 70-year-old motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle. Although a passing off-duty police officer attempted to save him, the victim ultimately passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the accident. The victim was known in the area for his skateboarding skills and for refusing to allow his age to prevent him from the activity that he loved. It is unclear what -- if any -- charges are expected to be filed against the driver police say caused the accident.

It is never easy to learn about the unexpected loss of a loved one. The fact that a death appears to have been preventable often makes it even more difficult for those grieving. Unfortunately, many people in California who have lost a loved one in a car accident also realize that they may be unable to manage their financial responsibilities as a result of lost wages and funeral expenses. In cases where it can be proved that a person's death was caused by another's negligence, surviving family members could receive an award of damages to help them cope with the financial consequences of their loss.
