California police make arrest re fatal car accident

Most California drivers are concerned for their safety as they drive. As a result, they take certain safety precautions such as obeying speed limits and ensuring their seat belts are fastened at all times. Unfortunately, even the safest drivers often find it impossible to evade those who fail to take proper safety measures. For example, police say that a woman was recently killed in a car accident involving a driver who was allegedly driving the wrong way and under the influence of alcohol.

The accident happened late one night in mid-December. According to reports, a van driven by a 34-year-old woman was headed east in the westbound lanes of a California road. Unfortunately, the van is said to struck a car headed west.

Rescue workers attempted to revive the 38-year-old female driver of the car, but they were unable to do so. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van suffered serious injuries. She was transported to the hospital and was arrested there. She is suspected of drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, among other crimes.

The potential risks of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol -- including the potential of causing a serious car accident -- are well known. Despite this knowledge, drivers continue to place their lives as well as of those they may encounter at risk by making the decision to drive while intoxicated. Unfortunately, innocent victims are often left to pay the price, leaving surviving family members grappling with the unexpected loss of a loved one. For those left coping with the consequences of another person's negligence in California, filing a wrongful death lawsuit is one option to help pursue justice.
