2 dead, 1 injured in California car accident

There are more and more drivers out on the road with each new year. With the increase in traffic, awareness of surroundings can help keep a person safe while driving. Unfortunately, accidents can happen to even the safest drivers. A recent car accident in California left two dead and one injured.

The accident occurred on Jan. 2 just before noon. A convertible traveling north collided with a sedan that was turning left from a southbound lane. A 70-year-old passenger in the sedan died on impact. The driver of the sedan was rushed to the hospital, but also died. The 50-year-old driver of the convertible was also taken to the hospital, but suffered only minor injuries.

The sedan also collided with a local flower shop before coming to a stop. No one in the shop appeared to be hurt in the crash, though the building sustained minor damage. There has been no indication of alcohol or drugs involved in the crash, and the cause is still undetermined. Traffic in both directions near the crash was stopped for the ongoing investigation.

Loss of a loved one can be difficult to accept, especially in a car accident, where the loss is unexpected and sudden. If the evidence suggests that the driver of the other vehicle was at fault in the crash, a wrongful death claim can be filed against her by the family or families of the deceased victims. Families faced with similar situations in California often speak with an attorney about available legal options and how to proceed with a wrongful death claim.
