Stolen vehicle causes serious car accident in California

Many individuals are injured by the actions of negligent drivers every year. There are numerous safety features in place to control the flow of traffic and, in turn, reduce the possibility for a car accident to occur. Unfortunately, someone who chooses to ignore them can put the health of everyone nearby at risk. In a recent accident in California, two people died and another was left with serious injuries.

Police were attempting to stop a car with a stolen license plate, when the driver began to flee. After a short time, the car turned onto a southbound road, traveling north, It then collided with a box van. The driver of the van was seriously injured in the crash and rushed to the hospital. Both the driver and passenger of the car died.

After investigation, the highway patrol learned that the car had been stolen, likely the reason for the chase. When a person chooses to run from police, the result can be disastrous. For the driver of the van, he or she had no control over the situation. Most victims have little time to react under similar circumstances, and they often suffer as a result.

People who are seriously injured in a car accident typically face periods of significant financial burden. If the collision was cause by the negligence of another party, the victim may seek financial restitution through the civil justice system. If the party deemed at fault is deceased, a claim can be made against his or her estate. When facing a similar situation in California, accident victims often speak with an attorney for assistance in filing a personal injury claim.
