Suspected illegal racing leads to car accident in California

The apparent thrill of the race has ultimately ended the lives of two people, and possibly injured others. A car accident in Rancho Cordova was reported in the early morning hours of Nov. 19. Authorities are still investigating the details of the California crash, but an early news report made some important facts available.

The accident occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m. The driver of one car involved in the accident was allegedly racing another vehicle. Some factor caused the driver of the car to lose control and cross over several lanes or traffic.

As the car crossed into other lanes of traffic, it impacted the car driven by a woman on the roadway. The right front passenger of the alleged race car was killed on impact with this vehicle. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and struck by separate car as he laid in the roadway. Both individuals are reported to have died, although authorities have only released the identity of one of them. There were no reports on other injuries, although there were  two other cars involved in the accident.

No further details were yet available for the tragic California car accident. It may turn out that more people have suffered as a result of this seemingly preventable tragedy. The irresponsible behavior of the racing driver has affected at least one other person. The family of this person may wish to seek recovery of monetary damages related to the death. Family members have the option to do so through a wrongful death lawsuit, which many people choose to pursue with the help of an experienced personal injury attorney.
